Question Scales in Woba

When you create a question in a survey template, you must choose the response scale that employees will use to answer the question.

The selected scale affects both the user experience and how results are calculated in Woba Analytics.

  • 5-point scale (0–4) – for example: 2.95 is rounded to 3.0; 2.445 to 2.4.

  • 0–10 scale – provides a broader picture.

  • eNPS (–100 to +100) – used when it is particularly relevant to measure engagement. Typically limited to a single question.

Color coding (5-point scale):
 3.4+ 2.9 - 3.3 2.5 - 2.8 1.9 - 2.4 1.8-0

This article explains all available question scales.

Smiley Scale (5-point)

The Smiley Scale consists of five response options ranging from very negative to very positive.

It is typically used for questions about wellbeing, collaboration, and the work environment.

Example

To what extent does your immediate manager recognize and appreciate your work?

Included in the overall score?

✅ Yes

Rating Scale (0–10)

The Rating Scale allows employees to answer on a scale from 0 to 10.

It is commonly used for questions where greater nuance is required or for Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS).

Example

To what extent does your immediate manager recognize and appreciate your work?

Included in the overall score?

✅ Yes

Yes/No (Scored)

This scale provides two response options, typically Yes and No.

The responses are assigned a score and are therefore included in the survey results.

Example

Have you experienced anything unpleasant in your workplace during the past 12 months?

Included in the overall score?

✅ Yes

Yes/No (Not Scored)

This scale also provides two response options, but the responses do not affect the survey score.

It is typically used as an introductory or filtering question before displaying relevant follow-up questions.

Example

Are you an office employee?

Response options

  • Yes

  • No

Included in the overall score?

❌ No

One Option

Employees can select one response from up to five available options.

This scale is used when only one answer can be correct or applicable.

Multi Option

Employees can select multiple responses from up to five available options.

This scale is useful when more than one answer may apply.

Example

Included in the overall score?

❌ No

Comment

The Comment scale allows employees to provide a free-text response.

It is commonly used to elaborate on responses or collect qualitative feedback.

Included in the overall score?

❌ No

Information

The Information scale is used to display text to employees without requiring a response.

It is ideal for introductions or explanations between different sections of a survey.

Example

In the next section of the survey, you will be asked a series of questions about the indoor environment at your workplace.

Included in the overall score?

❌ No

Frequently Asked Questions

Which question scales are included in the overall survey score?

The following scales are included when calculating survey results:

  • Smiley Scale (5-point)

  • Yes/No (Scored)

All other question scales are used only to collect information and do not affect the overall survey score.

When should I use Yes/No (Not Scored)?

Use this scale when the question is only intended to determine which follow-up questions an employee should see, or when the answer should not affect the survey results.

Can comment fields be used in calculations?

No. Comments are used only as qualitative feedback and are not included in Woba Analytics.

Note: Always verify that the available response options match the selected question scale before scheduling your survey.
